This winter you’ll want to take advantage of all of the fun events happening both indoors and outdoors in Owatonna. Bring the kids for a candlelight ski at Rice Lake State Park, or for a polar plunge during Winter Weekend Out. Winter Weekend Out: Jan 27-29
Grab the kids for a fun-filled weekend. Friday will feature sledding and a movie at West Hills, followed on Saturday by a fat bike demo, a polar plunge, an adult bocce ball tournament, ice skating and a bonfire. The weekend will be capped off with family ice fishing at Lake Kohlmier on Sunday. Find more information here.
Candlelight ski, snowshoe & hike: Feb 11
Let this be the season where you get out and experience winter adventure in a whole new light! Come enjoy a quiet, peaceful meander under the full moon as you ski, snowshoe, or hike beautiful candlelit trails at Rice Lake State Park. The 1/2 mile and 1 mile trails take you through the woods and along Rice Lake’s shoreline. Warm up by the bonfire or wood stove in the warming shelter and be sure to stop in the park for hot beverages and treats! Snowshoes available for rent in the park office. This is a free event but vehicles must have a permit which can be purchased at the office. More information here.
Around the world food and brewfest: feb 17
This fun evening is a multicultural celebration of food, beer and coffee. Guests will take a trip around the culinary world and enjoy specialties from Scotland, Germany, Italy, India, Spain, and more. You’ll have fun tasting different homebrews throughout the evening. Prelude to a kiss: feb 17-26
Spend an evening at the Little Theatre of Owatonna. In Prelude to a Kiss, Peter and Rita immediately fall for each other and decide to get married. During their wedding reception, an old man asks Rita for a kiss. Peter soon realizes that the kiss caused Rita and the man to switch bodies and has to face the dilemma of loving Rita in the body of a terminally ill man, or staying married to a stranger posing as his wife.
